As a plus size woman, trying to find clothes to fit can feel like a minefield. When browsing the high street you may find that many stores display their plus size stock in a separate section from the rest of the clothes, and then when found, you will discover very little choice. Perhaps 2 different styles of trouser, 1 or 2 jackets, and a few tops and tunics. And the majority of these will be in black or grey as manufacturers have the misguided idea that we like to dress in dark clothes to hide our bodies!
Here at Froxx, we like to celebrate our curvy bodies by stocking clothing in every colour imaginable. Many customers enter the shop and comment on the bright colours – even in the middle of the autumn/winter season. We like to display our stock in colour sections, so if you know which colour you’re wanting to buy, we make it easy for you.
And then there’s the question of which size you will need. We stock between 15-20 different manufacturers, and they all have their own idea of what a size 22 should be. So begin by taking your own measurements with a soft tape measure. Come armed with your bust, waist and hip measurements, ideally in inches, and we can do the rest. We stock mainly European clothing which benefits us all by the European system of sizing. This system is easy – they classify their sizes in inches. So if you have a size 48” bust, you will be a size 48 in European style tops, and a 52” hips will mean a size 52 trouser. Translated into British sizes, this is a size 22 top and 26 trousers. Of course, we will do the translating for you!
Then you need to consider which bits of your body you want to flatter, and which you want to hide. Personally, I have quite a large bottom so I need to buy A-line shape tops which flare out over my bottom. If I buy a straight style top, it looks really ugly as it clings to my bottom and tummy showing all my bulges! I also like to wear longish tops to cover my big thighs, but you may have a great pair of legs, so buy a shorter top to flatter your shape and emphasise your best bits!
Why not have a browse through our website and see the different shapes that we have. Then give us a ring to place an order, and we can talk you through the ideal shape and fit personally for you.
